ELIZABETH "LIZZY" COLE

Lizzy has been training at and fighting for Third Street Gym since February 2005. She took her first steps inside the gym on a cold night in February and told co-owner Simon Redmond she wanted to fight and win the upcoming Northern California Golden Gloves. Simon trained her hard for seven weeks, enabling her to compete and take the 2005 Northern California Golden Gloves championship. Her passion to fight, train hard, and teach others was ignited and solidified at Third Street Gym. Before Third Street, she trained at Karate One for 3 years, under the instruction of former Golden Gloves champion, Jack Shanas, earning a brown belt a few months before joining Third Street. In addition to her training, she teaches boxing classes twice a week at Third Street and also does one-on-one personal trainings. She is grateful for the countless opportunities Paul and Simon have given her since she joined. “I have learned much from them and I receive a great amount of satisfaction in passing on my knowledge to others. Seeing my students train hard and improve in their ability is very rewarding.” Recently, Lizzy competed in the 2006 Women’s National Golden Gloves in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where she placed 3rd out of 11 girls in the 125 lbs weight-class.

Besides boxing, she is currently a student at City College of San Francisco majoring in Psychology, with eventual hopes of transferring to UC Berkeley.
