After his pro career ended, Roman began training fighters, winning many prestigious Mexican awards.

Yucatan State “Trainer of the Year” 3 years running.

The fighters under his guidance also won awards including “Best Prospect of the Year” and “Best Fighter of the Year”.

Roman has trained many fighters and brought them to national titles. He has also managed to produce 2 World Champions:

Gute Espadas, Jr., 2002 World Featherweight Champion

And, more recently:

3rd Street Gym's very own Eliza Olson, WBC World Middleweight Champion.

Roman is now a full-time trainer at 3rd Street Gym, and brings with him over 25 years of boxing experience.
